Rare
English Regency Rent Table the circular top with tooled leather
and a lifting well, the drawers with ivory knobs and letters
the top supported with a central pedestal with down swept
legs ending with brass casters. Rent tables were designed
for use by landlords to receive their rents and file their
receipts. This example by repute was used as a writing table
in the Author's room of Greyson and Co. Dickens publishers
where he wrote on occasion when visiting. Provenance purchased
from a daughter of Dillon Ripley and Mary Livingston Ripley.
He was the curator of the Smithsonian Institute for 30 years.

a tooled green leather top crossbanded in rosewood with circular
brass inlay, the frieze with alternating real and false drawers
with brass star drawer pulls, the pedestal base supported
